Call a Midwife (CaM) – A triage telephone service (0300 123 5473) providing urgent maternity advice to women booked at Royal Surrey County hospital, Ashford and St Peters and Epsom and St Helier. Midwives are based at SECAmb and support with maternity and neonatal 999 calls across Surrey, Sussex, and Kent. Staffed by 2 midwives during the day and 1 overnight, the service receives around 3000 calls per month providing advice from the most acute concerns from 16 weeks-14 days Postnatal. The purpose is to assess symptoms to determine urgency of ongoing care, if needed. The CaM line does not have access to hospital appointment systems, blood results, obstetricians, or medications and practices are asked not to direct patients to the service for these queries.
